While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be a great way to gain hours of enjoyment, it can also be very tedious when accruing hearts and stamina early on in the game. For this reason, players have discovered a cheat that remains effective seven years after the game's release, allowing Link to duplicate his heart and stamina vessels early on in his journey.
Unfortunately, to use this glitch, players will still need to acquire either some extra heart containers or stamina vessels and explore the map until discovering Hateno Village. Additionally, the Camera Rune will need to be acquired from Purah, who can be found in the Hateno Tech Lab at the top of the hill in the village.

How To Duplicate Hearts & Stamina In Zelda: BOTW
How The Cursed Stone Glitch Works
Though this is a simple Glitch in Zelda: BOTW, it can be challenging to master for the first time as it requires several perfectly timed steps. To begin, Link will need to make his way over to Hateno Village and interact with the Cursed Statue.
When viewing the map, it can be found directly north of the Firly Pond. The Cursed Statue is a spirit that Link can interact with to exchange Hearts and Stamina for each other or 100 Rupees. The only catch is that Link cannot eliminate the default starting amount of Stamina or Hearts.
When first speaking with the Cursed Statue, you will need to give it all the extra hearts you have available. The more you have, the better, but any amount over three can be used for this purpose. Create a save file once you have handed over Link's additional hearts to the Cursed Statue.
Next, go ahead and head to the shrine in Hateno Village. Inside, Link will find an apparatus that operates the ball maze in front of it. Stand in front of the apparatus without interacting with it, and complete the following steps:
- Equip any Shield at your disposal.
- While holding ZL, press L, and the left joystick simultaneously. If you do this successfully, you should see the camera view with Link in a crouch. To verify this, press the left joystick again, and you should see the camera view rise as if Link is standing. If you auto-exit the camera view and can see Link crouched, you will need to repeat this step until you have the intended result.
- While still in the camera view, point it at the apparatus. If everything has been done correctly up to this point, you will be able to examine it.
- Press A to take a photo of the apparatus.
- Delete the photo and press + immediately to open the inventory.
- Hold any material in your inventory, just one.
- Immediately close the inventory and re-open it. If you take too long to do this, Link will start controlling the apparatus, and you will need to start over.
- After re-opening the inventory, go over to the Adventure Log and attempt to view one of your memories. If you have done everything correctly up to this point, nothing will happen when you click to view.
- Close the inventory, and you should have full control of Link as normal, but you should also be controlling the apparatus, meaning the maze will be moving as you move Link.

BOTW: How Many Hearts You Need To Get The Master Sword
The legendary Master Sword is coveted in Breath of the Wild for not breaking. But how many heart containers does Link need to finally acquire it?
After accomplishing the last step of the glitch, reload the save file from the Cursed Statue you just created. At this point, reclaim all the hearts back from the Cursed Statue you gave to it. Unfortunately, though it gives you 100 Rupees for each one, it requires 120 Rupees to return them, so ensure you have a fair bit on hand in advance.
Once you've received back all of your hearts, repeat the glitch process without saving first. After completing the glitch a second time, reload your initial Zelda: BOTW Cursed Statue save file.
Suppose you want to speed up the process. In that case, you can "reset" the amount that the statue is holding by giving it the hearts you have after reloading the save. Thus, it will hold double the amount you initially gave it, which will then allow you to, in turn, take back more at a time. Save the file again after giving the statue those Hearts so it can be your new reload file.
You should appear before the Cursed Statue, but this time with all the hearts you had returned to you. The difference is that the Cursed Statue will still believe it is holding your hearts, meaning you can re-claim them a second time, doubling your hearts.
Once your Heart Containers are maxed out, you can use the same essence to raise Link's Stamina in Zelda: BOTW so that you may max out both of your core stats in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
If you find that you are still having trouble, please reference YouTuber 100 Percent Zelda's video, which provides a visual reference on how to complete the above steps.
